How to reset Google Chrome settings to default using either of these methods

If you messed with your Chrome settings, here is how to reset your Chrome settings to default.

Should in case you tempered with some settings you shouldn’t have, the only solution is to reset the browser to its default settings.

You may be confused where exactly something went wrong, so save yourself the brain stress, just reset it to the default state.

Please note that this tips for resetting Chrome settings to default is for the normal Chrome settings, and not for other Chrome hidden settings like Chrome flags.

There are variant reasons why you may want to reset your Chrome settings, maybe because your browser is running slow or you have popped up ads issues.

I will walk you through basically 2 steps to which you can reset your Chrome browser settings.

Methods we’ll use to reset Chrome settings to default

  1. Via Chrome settings menu
  2. By deleting the user profile

These are the 2 methods we’ll be using to reset Chrome settings to default.

You are free to opt in for any of the methods that you find comfortable working with.

There are sections where this reset will be effective, certainly not in Chrome flags settings.

This reset will be effective in sections such as your saved bookmarks, passwords, cache, cookies, extensions, themes as well as your homepage.

It will restore the settings that usually comes with the browser when newly installed but will not interfere with the flags settings.

Enough of the story!

Let’s get into the real deal.

Method “i” for resetting Chrome settings to default

  • Open your Chrome browser
  • Tap on the vertical 3 dotted lines at the top right corner of the browserreset Google Chrome settings to default
  • Now tap on the “Settings” as seen in the image above
  • On the page that will come up, scroll to the bottom and click on “Advanced”
  • Now scroll again to the very bottom and click on “Reset”reset Google Chrome settings to default

Method “ii” for resetting Chrome settings to default

The second method for resetting Chrom settings to default is to delete/remove the profile.

This will totally delete all the browser data and reset the settings to default.

Here is how to do it:

  • Open your Chrome browser
  • Tap on the vertical 3 dotted lines at the top right corner of the browserreset Google Chrome settings to default
  • Now tap on the “Settings” as seen in the image above
  • Under “People”, click on “Manage other people”reset Google Chrome settings to default
  • Now you can remove the profile of the person your whose browser you were using to browsereset Google Chrome settings to default

Now all the settings are gone and you now have the default settings.

It’s that simple!

Note: You can add as many users as you wish to your Chrome browser.
